Happy Texas Independence Day Ya’ll! Texans are extremely proud individuals and I am no exception. I love the Great Lone Star State almost as much as I love food trucks, which is exactly what my post is about today. Food trucks are a quintessential staple in Austin and once you try one you must try them all. But here is a list of the top 10 HOTTEST food trucks in Austin you must try TODAY

MickletheWait Craft Meats

East Side King

Little Lucy’s Mini Donuts

Veracruz All Natural

Chi’Lantro

Hey Cupcake

The Peached Tortilla

Hey! You Gonna Eat or What?

Gourdough’s

Torchy’s Tacos

Feel free to google these food trucks and get a feel for what kind of food they serve. I promise you they’re all AWESOME and I recommend you try each at least once to get the full Austin experience!

blues

KGSR’s Blues on the Green returns to Zilker Park for its 25th season. June 3rd was the first official concert of the season and it featured Antone’s All Star Review hosted by Jimmie Vaughn with special guest Gary Clark Jr. For those of you new to Austin or haven’t heard of Blues on the Green, it is Austin’s longest running FREE music series. You can bring in two factory sealed water bottles, blankets, chairs, and your dog. My advice to anyone planning on attending this event, ride your bike, carpool, or uber/lyft. Traffic is pretty heavy around this area. If you’re living in Austin this summer definitely plan on going to this event at least once this summer. It really is a rite of passage for living in this great city!

2015 Line-Up:
June 3 – Antone’s All Star Review Hosted by Jimmie Vaughan
June 24 – Riders Against The Storm, Shakey Graves
July 22 – Walker Lukens, Bob Schneider
August 5 – Max Frost, Jamestown Revival

Admission: Free

Music Starts: 8pm

Location:
Zilker Park
2100 Barton Springs Road
Austin, Texas 78704

Shake-Shack-Austin1

The first ever Austin Shake Shack is located on South Lamar and Treadwell. It’s menu features classic favorites such as burgers, hot dogs, fries, and frozen custard. For all of our adults out there, their menu also includes beer and wine and is even four-legged friendly including some treats for our sweet pups. They didn’t forget about the unique flair of Austin and their menu includes ingredients from some local eateries such as Kreuz Market, Kiskadee, Uchi, and Uchiko. Take that cheat day and go enjoy some food from this new restaurant, it is sure to become a new local favorite!

I recently received a picture from a friend of mine of an old man riding around Austin on a bike wearing nothing but his underwear! It was a funny sight to see to say the least and it got me thinking about Austin’s slogan “Keep Austin Weird”. Austin is known for preserving its quirkiness and the people that live here are very proud of the culture; some even embody it. One thing I especially love about Austin is the food! There’s so many “weird” and unique places to eat here and I wanted to share some of them here that you should definitely try! They may sound a little weird but we wouldn’t be doing our Austinite duty if we didn’t do our part in keeping Austin weird! Check out these unique dishes when you get the chance, you won’t be disappointed!
